Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you . . . . unless indeed you are disqualified. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified. (2 Corinthians 13:5-6)
Students sometimes panic when grades come out. Parents too shudder to open the envelope, or as is the case today, the email. Much depends upon the students' grades; passing to the next level, graduation, scholarships, even discounts on car insurance! But do we put too much emphasis on grades rather than the heart and soul of our children?
Paul addresses the church at Corinth in the letter above. He is administering a test. This test is crucial for eternity however, not simply a grade. Oh there is some studying required and some knowledge needed . . . that of the Scriptures!
Paul is sure of His relationship with Christ. He has been put to the test! But I ask you . . .
Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?
