But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)Eyes to see . . . beyond the physical. That is what I want. It is how God looks at things. David was not the strongest, oldest, tallest or most battle-tested. He was simply available, coachable, humble, willing to serve. God saw straight through to the heart of David. He saw desire, dedication, drive, and the proper attitude.
Lord, may I, may we see beyond the resume, the stature, the popularity and the social status. Help us to see beyond the physical and straight to the heart of man. Help us to to see Your heart and seek Your heart's desires for our lives.
