But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3:15-17)Never be ashamed of the "haters"! What can they possibly do to you? Can anyone keep us from the love of God? That should be our only fear!(Romans 8:35) After all, not everyone will understand our relationship with the Lord because it is "our" relationship! However, Peter reminds us to be prepared to share Christ with everyone with meekness (power under control) and fear (respect to God and people). It is hoped that even if they poke fun at us, they will come to understand our commitment and we will earn their respect even if they do not choose to come to know Christ for themselves. It is always better to suffer for doing good than evil! God knows our struggles!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
