After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:1-2)
Pastor Rick Warren says this about the "wise men": Among other lessons from the Wise Men, we learn to be
seekers of the truth. Wise people aren’t happy with guesses or speculation. They want to know the truth about God, their past, and their future. The Wise Men asked, “Where is the baby who was born to be the king of the Jews?”
Speculators love to argue and discuss God, but they’re just guessing — because they don’t really want to know the truth. They only want to talk about him.
On the other hand, God loves those who take the time to find the truth.
We also have another group concerning the King . . . SPECTATORS!
What group do we identify most closely with today? Are we diligently
seeking God? Are we simply
speculating, or guessing about Him and His truths? Are we
hovering around as
spectators on the perimeter looking in . . . being entertained by all this
Christianese around us?
Wise men and women still seek the Savior. Some have found Him and worship Him as the philosophers and scientists of Jesus' day. Others are guessing. Still others applaud the show. Where are you in this real-life drama?
