So this is our last week of school before CHRISTmas break. Many are planning getaways. Some preparing for last minute shopping. Still others are excited about traveling to tournaments in various cities. Some however, are still focused upon the Reason for this Seasonal break . . . JESUS!
Today, we are having a CHRISTmas PJ's day at school. I will be warning my students and anyone else who make be reading/listening: Do not fall asleep on Jesus! Many will and many have done so in the past. All the caroling and all the hustle and bustle of shopping, gift giving, traveling and family, many will miss Him.
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)
Many missed Jesus when He was born. Except for the shepherds, the Magi, and a few more, most missed Jesus' birth. As He grew older and claimed to be Messiah, many more missed His message . . . some even crucified Him!
