Words said or left unsaid leave scars

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)

Wow . . . this is right on time for me! Look at God.  While I love my wife dearly and would do anything for her, there are times when I do not say the right thing, or say the wrong thing! Forgiveness is easy to ask for, but the words said or left unsaid leave scars!

Good communication takes years of practice, especially in marriage and family. When we think we have it down, again we blow it. It can bring us to severe frustration at ourselves and inward and outward sadness. So why does this happen?

We try. We get advice. We even read the bible. Yet we fail again and again. It is the same old answer . . . our fleshly desires take rule over our desires to pleasing God and our spouse. The lust of our flesh and the pride of life raise their ugly heads. It is SIN again!

We are hurt. We want to lash out. Our pride has been crushed. So we let our flesh do the talking: #@!%+@#!

We need the help of the Holy Spirit in the middle of these conversations. "I" must be the one to say something sweet as honey. Words do leave scars, but they can also bring healing!

We all are held accountable for all we do . . .

Even a child is known by his deeds, whether what he does is pure and right. The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both....
