IT happens! So what am I doing about IT?

What happens when the people we are supposed to trust let us down? Let's face it, in life things will not always go as planned. Just when we think we can count on folks to have our back, to support us, or to encourage us, we are let down by parents, family members, friends, yes, even in the Church! It happens . . . so what am I doing about IT!

People are people and we all fall short. No one is perfect and we all fail one another on a regular. I have come to expect it. If we look at HIStory, we can see dozens and dozens of cases where the Church has acted unfairly and dealt many injustices along the way . . . many times for good causes, or so they said. Just look at the Crusades of the 11th and 12th centuries when thousands of lives were lost in spreading the Gospel! Even in our more recent societies we have witnessed CHRISTians bombing abortion clinics, bashing those living alternative lifestyles, and practicing blatant racism! Rejecting, ridiculing and even attacking those unlike us is treating Jesus the same way! We do not have to look far in the Bible to witness how He cared for the marginalized, the outcasts and the ignored.

How can we heal the hurts caused by us? How can we live like Jesus? It has to start with me!

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:44-46)
