a hole in our heart

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”  But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (John 7:37-39)

We all have a hole in our heart . . . a longing . . . for that ideal partner, a perfect car, a scholarship, a championship, perhaps a career appointment. But what happens when we obtain those things? The hole is still there! So what is missing? What will

ultimately fill that hole, that void?

There is a space . . . a hole . . . in everyone's heart for God. He alone is my security, my happiness, my life. God alone can meet all of my needs because He is the source of all things. He supplies the people, the jobs, the promotions, the scholarships, whatever.

What are you longing for today? What are your desires, goals and dreams? Will you seek God and allow Him to fill you with His desires for you? Will you allow Him to fill the hole in your heart?
