Only what we do for Christ . . . .

Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality. (Colossians 3:22-25)

These are some of favorite and most challenging verses. First of all, the word bondservant, (translated slave) is challenging in today's world. On top of that, not getting back at those who hurt us is most challenging. We often get offended by others. It is human nature to lash back and get even.

Yet we are bond-servants of the Lord, Jesus Christ! He bought us out of the slavery of sin to a life . . . eternal life . . . of mercy and forgiveness! As He has forgiven us, we are to live a life of mercy, grace and seek the restoration of others.

As born-again, bought-with-a-price servants of a merciful and forgiving God and King, we are to do the same to those we encounter! We do not have to be so concerned with pleasing supervisors, co-workers, teachers and friends. As long as we are doing the best with what God has given to us, we are doing alright!

Only what we do for Christ will last anyway. The trophies, diplomas, degrees, certificates, promotions, and other rewards stay behind. Living for Christ pays things forward . . .(Matthew 6:19-33)

We all are held accountable for all we do . . .

Even a child is known by his deeds, whether what he does is pure and right. The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both....
