Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.(Acts 5:9-11)We have all probably read these passages and know the story. Believers were selling off property and sharing then proceeds with everyone in the Church so all could be supported. Yet when Ananias and his wife came to give the money, they held back a portion. As they came in desperately, Peter challenged reach about the amount. Individually, they both lied.....not to Peter, but to God the Holy Spirit! (Acts 5:4,9)
As a result, God took their lives right there in the church!
But what about You and me? How many times have we made God promises only go back on our word? God, if You will do this for me then I will __________. Have held back our time, our efforts, our money? What promises have we broken?
We all must fearfully consider our talks with God! He knows our needs. Just be honest!
