God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling . . .Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalm 46:1-3, 10)To keep up with this world, we need to be constantly in motion! Yet who has instructed us to keep up with this world anyway? Yes we need to be informed and "wise as serpents" in this world (Matthew 10:16), but even Jesus prayed that we would not be "of this world". (John 17:14-16) Our mind set is to be other, different, transformed! (Romans 12:1-2)
As we enter the last long weekend of summer, lets take a rest from this world . . . be still on this Labor Day weekend, and examine just how it has trapped us and ask the Lord to show us how to get a bit closer to what He would have us to be!
