Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.(1 Peter 3:8-9)Why is unity so important within the Body of believers? It is a witness to the world that Jesus Christ is Who He says He is and it allows a sinful and dying world to experience a better options than what the world offers! Varying doctrines and opinions within the "church" causes doubt and lack of faith. If we are indeed one, we must be consistent with His Words!
His Word does not ever change despite what society says. It does not bow to culture. It does not tremble at political correctness. All mankind and all of his statutes and laws come under God's authority! We as believers must live this out now more than ever to accomplish Jesus' will for us in some of His last words to the Father . . .
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. (John 17:20-21)Please do not allow the world to trick us. Let's be on ONE accord!
