Forty days . . . . is it too much to ask?

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19)
Ash Wednesday  . . . It marks the beginning of Lent for the Christ follower. While there are many legalistic and traditional actions attached, it is quite simply a time to refocus on the SAVIOR and all He has one and is doing and WILL do for us! We look toward celebrating Resurrection Day but even more so we look for His actual return to bring us home with Him to glory!

Some may give up foods, habits, or others may deliberately  do things to serve others out of sacrifice. Whatever we choose, we do it to draw closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! If it is a meal we forgo, we then pray during that time. Perhaps we donate to costs associated with eating to a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or favorite missionary.  If it is an activity we are avoiding, then we replace it with bible study, CHRISTian music, or perhaps a quiet walk as we talk with Jesus. Maybe we focus on our "temples" and as we workout we listen to inspiring sermons or Gospel-centered songs. Whatever we do, our intent should be to draw closer to the One Who died for us and defeated death and the grave for our salvation!
