Be Careful What You Advertise

Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.  But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:33-37)

As we go about our day we see a lot of signs, bumper stickers, t-shirts, even caps with slogans. Even buildings and stadiums have "names" now! Words that we see written on a bumper, on a shirt or hat, or even on a building makes a statement. Many times today, one can tell a book by its cover! At least one can be judged by it . . . .

One must be careful about what we say about ourselves not only with our outer wear, but also our outer words! Our tag lines, social media covers, on-line musical lyrics, signature lines, cell phone ring tones, and even others' words on our social media pages will tell people a lot about us without us saying a word.

We must be careful what we advertise! What is in our hearts will show up on the outside sooner or later. As Jesus spoke in Matthew 12, we too will be held accountable for what we say, but also today, for what we wear and what we post! In today's world, the cover reveals a lot!

To my young people . . .Enjoy life with restraint

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth; walk in the ways of your heart and in the sigh...
