When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a] in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.(Acts 2:1-4)
Fire is all-consuming, energizing, flowing, raging, crackling, warming, destroying, blazing, mesmerizing at times. A burning fire is full of action and energy. One fire indeed does: It changes things!
In Acts 2, Jesus' life- changing message of salvation is proclaimed to all peoples in all languages. The Spirit's fire was ablaze within the apostles. It's power was evident in both the words of the apostles and the repentant response of thousands.
Why do we believers today hold back the fire? Why do we save it for special occassions? This Fire needs to be released . . . fanned . . . set ablaze as a wild fire. (2 Timothy 1:6)
Lord, BURN within me so YOU can be felt around me!
