The Judas In Me

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still SINNERS, Christ died for us. . . for if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. (Romans 5:8-11)

Judas had the opportunity to not sin. Yet he chose to betray the Lord for a few pieces of silver. We often wonder why he did it or why the Lord allowed him to do it. Yet do we ever wonder why we betray the Lord? Yes, we betray Him every day for a job, a friendship, a habit . . . simple choices!

Yet while we still SIN, He still offers grace! He still offers forgiveness. He still offers His hand of reconciliation! Rather than look at Judas as some horrible piece of less than human flesh, perhaps we can see ourselves in his actions.

What do we find ourselves so lured by that it keeps us from really knowing Jesus? What is keeping us in the shadows rather than in deep intimate relationship with the Savior? I know I can't think too highly of myself. I have failed too numerous times in my walk with Jesus to worry about Judas.

We all have a bit of Judas lurking inside. But we have time to change . . . .

God will always forgive us, no matter how much we sin.

Praise God!
