In Love . . .Dedicated? Or just a FAN?

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:26-29)

Think about the relationships we have in life . . . do we love these folks for what they do for us or for who they ARE?

Do we love mom because she is such a great cook or keeps a clean home, or because she is loving, caring, forgiving . . .?

Are your friends in your life because they treat you to dinner or a game or because you enjoy their company?

We live in a selfish world but when it comes to God (and others) we must love Him (and people) for who they are! There are many FANS of Jesus today: What a nice man . . . He was so kind and generous . . . He spoke so well . . . He encourages me so much . . .

Do we seek after Him as He seeks after each one of us . . .laying down our lives in exchange for a life with Him?

or . . . . .

Are we simply FANS who love Him when He "scores" but forget about Him when we seem to be "losing"?

FAN or SERVANT? CASUAL or COMMITTED? In LOVE or LACKING?
