The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent, but folly brings punishment to fools. The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction. Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:21-24)
LOVE is produced deep in the heart and soul of a person. Evil is as well. The WORDS that a person speaks are deeply formed within the recesses of one's heart. They are taught, learned, formed, and rehearsed well before they are heard by someone.
But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts . . . murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.” (Matthew 15:18-20)
We all must be careful what we take in through our eyes, ears, and minds. Written word, media, other's words and actions . . . all contribute to the feelings and thoughts we form deep within our hearts (souls). The heart is a garden of cultivation for the words and actions of life.
Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my HEART be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. (Psalm 141:3-4)
