You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. 2 Timothy 2:1-4)
On this Veteran's day 2014 let me first thank the many who have served our Nation in some capacity or another in our Armed Forces and the many agencies throughout the world. Special thanks to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of life . . . there is
no greater love!
I would like to name my father, Charles W. Carroll, my father-in-law Herbert O. Douglas, my son A J Washington and numerous relatives who have sacrificed valuable parts of their lives to serve to keep us free.
Like these
good soldiers, we too have a General to serve. We must
step to His commands despite what the enemy, even society, may be forcing upon us. We have a
higher calling. We have
marching orders to
defend the Gospel and to
infiltrate enemy territory with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to fear no one but God!
So many have suffered for the sake of the United States and our freedom. Will we not only stand as a Nation and applaud them today? Further yet, will we now be reminded to stay on alert and do battle for the souls that our yet lost? The enemy is lurking . . .
