What a Challenge . . . Care to Join Us?

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you. (Titus 2 11-15)
What a challenge it is to serve God day in and day out! Yes, oh yes it is a privledge, but also a challenge. There are many days when we feel as if we are on anisland and the only thing to do is cry out to God just to have some one listen. other days, we feel as though we have the attention of the entire world . . . well at least our small corner of it anyway!
So many ups and downs . . . emotional highs and lows.
But like the athelete I was trained to be, i try to tell myself not to get too high or too low. Each day will bring its own troubles. God remains steady and faithful, even when the closest friends or family members may seem to be our biggest enemies. Yet it is indeed a challenge nevertheless.
However, Paul gives Titus this advice: Let no one despise you! We work toward the return of Jesus. He is our hope . . . not this world! Join the battle!
