The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:19-24)
There is a difference between the followers of Jesus Christ and the world. Never is it more eveident than in these present times of
political correctness and
personal choices. Many believers are faced with with decisions each day at work, at home and even within our churces as to what decisions to make as to how we will live our lives? We strive to please the people around us and find ourselves bound by other's personal decisions.
Do we find ourselves giving in to man's ideals and doctrines or the teachings of the Bible? Are we following behind the popular crowd or venturing out on our own ansd standing for the
freedoms we have in Christ? A true believer is not bound by man and is free to honor the Word of God even if it costs friendships, popularity at work or family ties.
Do we choose party lines or Christian values? Do we follow after cutural traditions or Biblical values? Are we locked in by the law or freed by the Spirit of Christ? It is time to get out of the box and live by Christ's standards.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control . . . freedom to choose . . . May we all choose wisely these days!
