Oh, the Traditions of Man!

“Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:“‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” (Mark 7:5-8) The disciples did not follow the traditions of the Pharisees . . . they followed Jesus!It upset the Jewish leaders. Let's think about the traditions folks follow today, even (sadly) some Christians . . . More than 35 million babies legally murdered in America . . . homosexuality celebrated publically . . . students can receive a condom in school but cannot pray out loud for a friend in need . . . our kids are taught that we have evolved over millions of years yet the Bible tells us God created everything in six 24-hour days. Not getting drunk, refusing to smoke weed or do crack, driving the speed limit, and choosing to remain a virgin until marriage are all the exeption to young people today. Right is wrong and wrong is right . . . IS IT? Oh,the traditions of men! These popular ways will get no one into heaven. They may win friends, but they do not win God's heart. In fact, they have eternal consequences! Man's traditions change from generation to generation. God's traditons remain the TRUTH! He has not changed nor have His requirements for holiness changed!(Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8) He is God! The TRUTH will set you free . . . free from confusion, free from peer pressure, free from ups and downs of popular opinion . . . free from sin! The TRUTH frees us from this world! Try Jesus . . . He is the TRUTH!
