Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.(Matthew 20:26-27)
Are we willing to do the dirty work? Are we willing to gird ourselves with the apron of service and get our hands and feet dirty? Are we willing to bow down, go into the trenches where life is taking place and really sacrifice for others? Are we willing to lay aside our comforts, our reputations, even our own lives for the lives of others . . . for Christ's sake?
Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.(John 13:14-17)
This is the question we need to ponder this CHRISTmas Season and all the year through . . . Jesus did not consider it unworthy or embarrassing to serve us! Now . . . are we willing to do the dirty work?
