08 18 08 Trust…Even In The Shadows!
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
(Psalm 91:1 NIV)
The Lord’s shadow is a covering and a protection for those who trust Him, even in the most trying of circumstances. We can feel His peace beyond understanding when all hell seems to breaking loose. Even when everyone else around seems to be losing control and even losing their religion, we can stand firm and trust that our God has it all under His control.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
(Psalm 23:4 NIV)
From the same root Hebrew word lu tsel, here shadow means the utter darkness…deepest darkness…even death. Shadows of life can bring us under the deepest of sorrows. We can experience some very dark hours, especially as we experience the death of a loved one, the sudden death of a child, or the careless murder of a promising young life. We can allow the shadows of death to weigh us down, or we can allow God’s Shadow to encourage, protect, and comfort us. What will we allow in our lives? How will we choose to go through the shadows? We can walk with our Comforter in peace or go it alone feeling uneasy and in doubt. Be assured the shadows will come, yet His Shadow is always available to those who believe.
We can TRUST…EVEN IN THE SHADOWS! It’s a choice we’ll all be faced with in life.
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
