04 02 08 GROWING IN CONTENTMENT
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance. I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing. I am able to do all things through the One who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11–13 NET)
Men especially, don’t compare ourselves to others! We think this is only a challenge for women! While we understand a woman’s struggle meet the standards: attention: constantly aware of the “look” of today’s woman, caring for the home, providing meals, keeping the house, holding down a job, and still keeping her husband’s eyes focused upon her.
When you compare your life with someone else’s, the only place it can lead is discontent. There will always be people who appear to be better off than you, but you don’t know their real circumstances. There will always be guys bigger, stronger, smarter, more educated, making more money……it’s not just a challenge for our wife and daughters!
I know we all have heard it before, but what God has for me, and for you, is just for us and no one else. We are who we are and God wants to use as He made us. Why fight it? Doesn’t He know best? If we are constantly trying to be like someone else and have what they have, we’ll never be what God what’s us to be. If we only learn to be content...
If we will begin giving ourselves to others, sharing what things we do have, sharing our time and our talents, we’ll find ourselves learning to be content. Helping others will give us an appreciation for what we have and who we are but, more importantly, we will find ourselves GROWING IN CONTENTMENT. Why? Because God designed us to serve and share with others and until we do that, we will feel great discontent.
Be satisfied with the man in the mirror and the Creator behind it all
Keep growing in relationships with the Lord and other Godly men
Share our things
Share ourselves
Share His love
Grow in contentment.
Make DADDY proud!
