12 06 07 Just One Word

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.” (Galatians 5:13-14)

How can we live out the Christian life for others to see and experience?

These verses are vital to understanding the realm in which “walking in the Spirit” (verse 16) is to take place. Paul is not discussing spirituality in a vacuum, but in a very practical context. JUST ONE WORD or one simple sentence actually, from Paul. (originally from Jesus’ mouth in Matthew 22:39) Our freedom from the law does not give us freedom to act as we choose for our own enjoyment, but to treat everyone the way we treat ourselves.

When given a choice, we are to serve others. When faced with a decision to make, we must think of how it will affect others. When blessed with talents, abilities, and resources, we are to use them in such a way to assist others and make things better for everyone involved, not just ourselves. We do not live in a bubble. The Christian life is one of vital relationships and intimate fellowship. Just as Jesus personally entered this world and personally enters the heart of every believer, we are to be personally involved with those around us.

LOVE is a verb and it is personal! LOVE is also the person of Jesus Christ and it must represent the Christian! We are to be known by our LOVE……JUST ONE WORD!

Here is a question to ponder for today: “What word describes me, in others’ opinion?
