Tetelestai: It is finished! Jesus completed His task to save mankind from sin as our perfect and eternal scarifice. Three days later God the Father would resurrect Him to life by His Spirit and conquer death and the grave.
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said in fulfillment of the Scripture, “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was placed there; so they put a sponge soaked in the sour wine on [a branch of hyssop] and held it to His mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and [voluntarily] gave up His spirit. (John 19:28-30)
We now have that same opportunity to be washed clean by His perfect shed blood and look forward to a resurrected eternal body with Him one day.
Jesus finished the task. What is our response?
