Hebrews 12:1-2 states:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
We are surrounded by Godly influences daily. So what is our excuse?
- Why do we stay tangled up in such messy situations?
- Why do we run from the Godly influences and run to the ungodly?
It is an easy answer:
we lose focus! The writer of Hebrews instructs us to
run straight ahead staying
focused upon Jesus. We have to identify the things and the people who cause us to stray and turn away from them. It is a deliberate act of choice . . . your choice and mine.
We must use the tools (and people) in our lives that can keep us focused upon the things of God and throw off the things that distract us. Maybe we should make a list and act upon it . . . today!
So what is our excuse?
