And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. (2 Timothy 2: 5-7)
I love the references Paul makes to sports . . . boxing, running, competing. It makes it easy for me to understand much better the ways of the CHRISTian life. It is NOT easy. As with athletics, it takes daily training, struggling through injuries, dealing with losses, and dealing with success. We only get better through practice as well!
Finally, as with athletics there is only one Champion in the end . . . Jesus Christ! Jesus played by the rules to every last detail. He competed until the very end . . . even to the cross! He won the victory for each of us. So now, let us compete from victory until the very end and we hear "well done"!🏆
