If you look up verses about thanksgiving in the Bible, there is actually only one reason given to thank the Lord . . . God’s goodness. Regardless of the situation, His goodness is enough for us. Whether we live in a homeless shelter and have nothing or live in a five bedroom home with all the luxuries, His goodness toward us is always worth giving thanks.Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1)
However, sometimes our life experiences convince us otherwise. We have to be convinced of God’s goodness.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.(Romans 8:28)
If we fail to believe that God is nothing but good to us then we can’t truly give thanks to him. Let's allow God into the places in our lives that we feel He has failed us and let him heal those parts of our hearts. If we believe God is always good and always working, then there are always things to for which to be thankful.
As Thanksgiving approaches. . . a rather strange Thanksgiving at that. . . remember that God is still good!
