So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. (John 13:12-17)We hear it all the time within our church walls and as we chat among believers. However, do we really live these words out, especially in the secular world? Do the non-believers see us as their fellow servants, even their servants? Do we go beyond the call of duty to serve those even under our pay scale or do we simply "suck up" to the bosses to look better ourselves? Do we find ourselves only doing good deeds and sacrificing for those who can help us get ahead? This is not servant-leadership: it is selfish-leadership! Jesus took off His rabbinical robes, got in His knees, wrapped a slave's towel round His waist, and performed a servant's (slave's) duty for his students. Wow!!!!!!! What manner of man is this!?!?! Would to God that every believer would be as such so the dying world could embrace the Serving-Savior!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
