Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’ Therefore hear, you nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them.(Jeremiah 6:16-18)There are way too many voices today....in our world and in our churches. Way too many opinions. However, there is only ONE TRUTH! God's Word does not change for the culture. We cannot pick and choose what to believe and make things comfortable for ourselves and they way we choose to live. As in Jeremiah's day, people are saying, "We will not listen!" In various social media, I witness "believers" and so-called Christ-followers excusing things such as gay marriages, homosexual activity, varying roles of men and women in church leadership, greed and selfishness and more. They mis-quote scriptures to fit the situation or simply ignore scripture calling it irrelevant for today. Many leave bible-teaching churches for assemblies that have better choirs, more charismatic preachers, better programs and the like. Is it not about the TRUTH of the Word anymore? I do not want today's culturural christianity. I want what God wants!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
