What are we afraid of . . . winning?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.  This is what the ancients were commended for.  By faith . . . (Hebrews 11:1-3)

An athlete is always taking risks . . . in the game and out. He takes risks while training . . . pushing his body beyond pain but not (prayerfully) beyond injury. Plays are called in games that can turn the game either way, depending upon the outcome. Losers are satisfied with the average, the low risk decisions. They do what everyone expects. Big winners take the biggest risks!

In life, we take risks every day. Pursuing relationships, loving on people, planning the future . . . they all require risks and the energy required to act them out. There will be some discomfort, some hurt, maybe even some failure. However, risks are better than the alternative; loneliness, boredom, predictability, and lack of any sense of accomplishment. A life without taking risks is really no life at all.

As a Christ-follower, we have even more confidence as we decide to risk it all for Jesus' sake . . . we have FAITH! We have VICTORY!
