See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)
Time on our watches . . .
time on our tablets . . .
time on our phones . . .
time on the clock on the wall . . .
We see time ticking away minute by minute, hour by hour and day by day. Yet as consumed as we are with time, we never seem to have enough of it to do what
wehave planned! Yet God has given us plenty of time to do what He has planned for us. The question is this:
Do we know what His plan is for us?
We have only two options:to spend our time temporally on our own interests or invest it eternally on God's plans. Since time can never be retrieved or reversed, it's critical that we make the most of every opportunity the Lord provides.
But how do we know what God has planned? We have to ask . . . seek . . . listen. Just as we ask our boss or parents, or teachers what we have to do today, God also has an agenda to accomplish in and through us. We need to be in communication with Him daily. We may even have to write those plans down much like we do our own "to do" list. Soon enough, our list and God's list will line up together!
Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. (James 4:13-14)
Do you know what time it is?
