" . . .you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”(Romans 2:21-23We have all heard the saying, Practice what you preach! Many times we as parents are caugh saying just the opposite, "Do as I say not as I do." Well, while we are yet sinners, we who are responsible with teaching positions (and that is just about all of us)who name the name of Christ must be aware of the example we set. It is not enough to know the Word or even know Jesus as Lord and Savior. We must live it! As people of influence, we must be walking Gospels. People need to see Jesus daily in the way we live. In a world full of phonies and fakes, we need to be true to our calling as disciples of Jesus Christ! Kids especially can point out a phony! We cannot walk around like we are perfect, yet we must set the example. Many times, we show the greatest example of a Christian when we humbly admit our faults and failings. However, we must also show the sacrifices and determination it takes to live according to the Word with success! We must be real. As living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2)we show the reality of Christianity to a lost and dying world. Still not sinless, but striving to sin less and less!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
