"What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?” Pilate asked them.“Crucify him!” they shouted. “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!” Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.(Mark 15:12-15)What are we willing to die for . . . a cause, our families? What are we willing to live for? A life dedicated to the Lord requires sacrifice each and every day. It involves dying to our selfish desires and doing what we do not necessarily want to to do! We must sacrifice, time, resources, friendships, comforts, yes, even our very lives at times. We often read the passages above and concetrate upon Jesus, which is appropriate. But let us view Barabbas for a moment. Here he was, a murderer, se free simply because he happened to be in the right place at the right time. The people needed a scapegoat . . . one to set free, and he was chosen. Are we not Barabbas? Jeus died for us . . . taking all the pain and suffering on our behalf. yet many times we are like Barabbas . . . we simply get lost in the crowd. We get saved and no one hears of us anymore. Really . . . .? Beware that we do not become lost in the crowd, simply wandering through life believing we are free and clear of sin and its consequences. A Christian life dedicated to the Lord has a price . . . sacrifice! What are we doing as a result of being set free from sin? Be sure of you status!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
