Decisions . . . decisions . . . decisions

I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?
(Isaiah 51:12-13) The Jews feared Babylon because of the size of their armies and the terrible threat they posed. Babylon would make them captives . . . slaves. Yet God has so much more power than any host of armies and offers freedom from the salvery of sin. Like us today, God's people had replaced hope with fear and loved their physical freedom over the spiritual freedom offered by God's mercy and grace. What choices are we making today? Do we choose popularity over the will of God? Will we choose friendships over convictions? Will out character be marked as a Christ-follower or a politically correct citizen of this world? Where is our home this day? Like the Jews of Isaiah's days, we too have choices to make; Fear God or fear this society? Love His mercy or love the protection of the world? Will we conform to this world and hide under it's protection or step out from the darkness and allow God's light to shine? (Romans 12:1-2) Decisions . . . decisions . . . decisions . . . day after day, minute by minute! Whom do we serve?
