04 15 08 Another Set of Eyes
“Everything a man does might seem right to him.
But the Lord knows what that man is thinking.”
(Proverbs 16:2 NIrV)
No man is an island. No one can believe they can do anything worth while without help. Any significant discovery, invention, or program requires the teamwork of many. One may come up with an idea, but without ANOTHER SET OF EYES to examine the plans, things are bound to hit snags. Things are too complicated in the world today to think anyone can do anything alone…except fail!
Left to ourselves, we will approve of anything we plan, any wild dream we might have, any spur-of-the-moment desire. We won’t examine the deep set motives, the amount of work it will take to accomplish the plans, nor the actual costs involved. We will just see the finished product. There is One who knows it all however, even from the beginning of our thoughts.
We must be careful to place our plans and motives before the Lord. We must lay our desires out before Him, get His thoughts, and then accept His decisions. He knows the plans He has for us. His plans are for us to succeed. But we need to accept HIS plans.
As we plan, we pray. As we pray, we get counsel. God will lead us to Godly people who have been where we are and where we’re going. We must be willing to accept the direction He sends us in, or we should expect failure. Oh, we may think we’re succeeding, but by whose standards? We need ANOTHER SET OF EYES…spiritual eyes.
If we fail to plan, we plan to fail. If we are selfish enough to go it alone, we have decided to fail! Tap into God’s resources: His Word, His counsel, His people, His power. He is the SOURCE of our success!
"In the Beginning", the daily REMINDER from The Carroll Outreach Mission (formerly The Sparrows' Nest or TSN), is intended to jump start your day with the Lord. The Bible opens up with , "In the beginning, God..." It is our prayer that you will use this tool to begin or "restart" your day with the Lord! Only what we do for Him will last in the end!
