Directional Signs

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in FAITH, with no DOUBTING, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:4-8)

Some rather straight forward and practical advice from one who knew Jesus pretty well . . . his brother James!  We need to simply allow God to have His way with us. After all, He created us and has a wonderful design for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11) if we will just go by His plans.

When we have questions, we need to seek the Author of our story, not someone who is simply in the audience. God promises to share His knowledge freely and liberally, if we only ask and then follow the instructions. The problems come when we ask and then disagree with the Creator. We think we have a better plan. So we doubt . . .

Doubting causes a dizzying affect upon our lives. We begin to believe anything. We try everyone else's advice. We leave God out and we fail.

James reminds us that if we don't trust God at His word He will not share it with us. He will leave us to our own devices and schemes. That is never a good thing.

Take it from me: God knows best! I have tried it my way too many times and failed. God has a better plan. Trust Him!
