Active Faith

Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.
(Jude 1:3)

Times are tough. As beleievers, we hear and see many signs of twisted teaching, moral decline, and overall lack of respect for both God and traditional family values. What is a Christian to do? The Bible tells us things will get worse.(Matthew 24) So do we just sit back and allow it to happen? Jude warns us otherwise.

An active faith will contend for the faith! We must study and show ourselves approved by God first of all! (2 Timothy 2:15) For God to use us as a faithful witness, we need to be prepared. We need to know what we know! Then, as David put it so clearly, now that we are fogiven, we must teach (show)sinners how they too can know and praise the God we now serve. (Psalm 51:12-13)

Like Paul (Philippians 1:27), we are to stand firm in our beliefs and not allow the world's views to infiltrate our belief system. We must viligantly fight for the cause of the Gospel. We must be involved in the political process. We must influence the educational system. We must not only be seen and heard in the walls of the church but in the halls of justice as well!

In this day and age of all sorts of new exercise programs and active lifestyles for better physical health, le us be determined to exercise our faith! An active faith may not help shed pounds and inches, but it will get rid of deadly spiritual toxins! The best asset for Satan is a Christian who does nothing . . .
