09 15 08 No Time To Wait
“Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters. Work because you know that you will finally receive as a reward what the Lord wants you to have. You are serving the Lord Christ…Spend a lot of time in prayer. Always be watchful and thankful. Pray for us too. Pray that God will open a door for our message. Then we can preach the mystery of Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-4:3 NIrV)

Paul, imprisoned in a Roman prison, took time to write to the Colossi people, though he had never visited them. He writes over concerns he has heard from Epaphras’ report, that the mainly Gentile group of believers were being tempted and swayed by false teachings. Christ alone is sufficient. Christ alone is God and Savior. Christ alone is head of this Body we call the church. Christ alone is why we live and spreading the Truth of His Gospel is our reason for living.
Yet when faced with the challenge to put our faith into action, we find so many excuses. Oh they sound good and make perfectly good sense, but if Paul could take the time to write to a people he had never met (and from prison) because of his concern for their very souls…

I’ll do it when I have more time...Maybe when the kids are a little older. There’s just not enough money right now. The timing‘s just not right. I have my own problems I’m dealing with at this time…Sound familiar?

Well, when will we have more time to do anything? Do we really think we’ll have more time later? The kids get older and need more of our attention. There is always more month left over at the end of the money. Timing…only God’s timing counts! As for my problems, I have found they only lessen when I focus on others’ and not mine! There is NO TIME TO WAIT. Decisions need to be made now, while there is still time!

Every thought, every word, every action we take in life reflects our love and commitment to Christ and His Gospel. We have to begin to focus on God’s timetable and not our own. We indeed need to be prayerful; for our selves and others. We need to be in tune with God’s agenda and join in His work…all around us. Whether it’s physically getting into the trenches or supporting the labor taking place, we need to make sure the Word is getting through the doors God has opened up.

God is opening doors all around the world and right in our own backyards. There is NO TIME TO WAIT! Nothing we do for CHRIST will go unnoticed. Better to sacrifice the pleasures of this world for the sake of those in need, then to selfishly grab hold to the things of this world and miss the blessings of our Father. We may only get the chance we have today. Only what we do for our Savior will last. It’s time!
