03 23 07 Keep on…
"For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for His name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints." (Hebrews 6:10)
Sometimes we do grow weary in doing good. In a world where it seems as though everyone is trampling over everyone just so they can get to where they are going, it’s hard sometimes to continue to focus on doing good, sacrificing, and giving. It’s human nature to want some sign of gratitude, a little recognition, some applause for a change.
Imagine what our Lord must have felt like, humanly speaking. He decided to keep on!
Just as Jesus could lay aside His divine nature and live in His human nature, we must lay aside our human nature and live under the divine control of the Spirit within us. It’s not easy to do good and be ignored time and time again. It’s not a simple task to give knowing it will not be appreciated, possibly even rejected or ridiculed. It’s not human nature to sacrifice, only to be mocked and misunderstood. But we must keep on!
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul---"(Hebrews 6:19)
Oh but we have this hope in Christ! Because He endured all the ridicule, shame, rejection, and pain; because He bore the cross upon His shoulders, because he said, "I must keep on." The Father’s will was accomplished. We have this hope, this anchor that keeps us grounded and focused! There is gratitude coming for the saints who continue to give. There is recognition coming for the Christian who doesn’t give up hope. There is applause for the believer, who despite circumstances, decides to keep on.
Oh Daddy, if you could just make it a little easier. If you could let me know that things are progressing as you planned. If you could just have things be a little less stressful. Nevertheless, give me the strength and desire and pleasure to do Your will and seek your applause. Give me the courage to keep on, all the way home!
